Free for Mac · test build 0.3
A desktop buddy for Claude Code.
Clawd lives on your Mac desktop. While Claude works, he acts out little scenes and a bubble shows what Claude is doing. When it finishes, he celebrates.
- 0.1 21 scenes, speech bubble, confetti, progress line, focus timer, usage limits, daily stats.
- 0.2 Automatic updates.
- 0.3 Music (DJ, dance, album, lyrics), tuck into the screen edge, Done and "needs you" alerts, screenshot perch, battery and late-night moods, walking around, Hiker and space scenes, multi-select scenes.
- Next Collapsible panel, more scenes.

What Clawd does
- 01
He narrates
A bubble says what Claude is up to: reading auth.ts, running the tests. Click it to jump back to Claude.
- 02
Confetti on done
Every finished prompt ends in a small party. Usually just confetti. Interrupted ones pack up quietly.
- 03
21 scenes
Some follow the work. Reading files sends him to the library; searching turns him into a detective.
- 04
A progress line
An orange line creeps along the bottom of your screen, paced by how long your prompts usually take.
- 05
Focus timer
Pomodoro rounds with scenes while you work and a coffee break in between. Or any timer you like.
- 06
Usage limits
Hit your limit and he flops over next to a battery that fills up until the reset time.
- 07
Stats and nudges
Prompts, Claude time and focus minutes for today. After a long stretch he tells you to get up.
- 08
Throw him
Drag him anywhere, or fling him at the edge of the screen and he bounces. Clicks pass through to your work.
Scenes
21 scenes. Each prompt picks one at random from the ones you've switched on, and any of them can be his idle animation.
More scenes are on the way.
01 / 21
Skater
Kickflips, rail grinds and a loop-the-loop, with the odd bail.
Click a Clawd below to see his scene, or drag and throw him. More scenes are coming:
Install
Needs macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. He's built for Claude Code, and works as a desktop buddy and focus timer without it.
Download
Open Clawd.dmg and drag Clawd into Applications.
Allow it once
Open Clawd. When macOS says it can't verify it, click Done, then go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway.
Connect
Click Connect on the welcome screen. It adds a few hooks to Claude Code's settings and keeps a backup.
Prompt away
Start a new Claude Code session and send a prompt.
Why the extra step? This free test build isn't signed with an Apple Developer ID yet, so macOS asks once. The Terminal way does the same thing:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Clawd.appFAQ
Does Clawd send any data anywhere?
No. Everything happens on your Mac. Clawd reads Claude Code's hook events and its local transcript files (to spot interruptions and usage limits), and keeps his settings and stats in your user folder. He fetches a small file from this site a few times a day to see if there's a new version (plus the download itself when there is), and when music is playing he looks up the album cover from Spotify or Apple (and the lyrics from LRCLIB, if you turn that on). No accounts or analytics, and nothing about you or your work is sent.
What exactly does Connect change?
It adds hook entries for five Claude Code events to ~/.claude/settings.json, pointing at Clawd. Your original file is saved first as settings.json.before-clawd, and everything else in it is left alone. Disconnect, in Clawd's menu, removes them again.
Will it slow my Mac down?
Barely. Idling uses around 2% of one CPU core and about 20 MB of memory, and each hook takes a few milliseconds.
Does it work with the Claude desktop app?
Yes. Claude Code in the terminal, in the desktop app's Code tab and in IDE extensions all share the same settings, so Clawd sees all of them.
How does Clawd update?
From 0.2 on, he checks for a new version every few hours. When there is one, he waits until nothing's running, downloads it, checks it matches what was published, and restarts as the new version. You can turn this off, or check by hand, under Updates in his panel.
Is there anything hidden in Clawd?
We couldn't possibly say. But he's a patient little guy, and he likes it when you are too. Keep him company for a while and see what he does.
How do I uninstall it?
Click Clawd, choose Claude Code, then Disconnect. Quit him with the power button and drag Clawd from Applications to the Bin.
Is this made by Anthropic?
No. Clawd is an independent fan project and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic.
